Dr Quah Soon Wee

Dr Quah Soon Wee graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2008 with a Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). As a house officer and medical officer, he rotated through a range of hospital postings including internal medicine, orthopaedic surgery, general surgery and accident and emergency. 

He decided to pursue a career in family medicine in Singhealth Polyclinics, where he stayed on for 7.5 years, serving the patients in Tampines. During this time, he furthered his family medicine training by first obtaining the Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine (GDFM) in 2013. He was accredited and recognized as a family physician on the Register of Family Physicians in 2014. He went on to pursue further training and successfully obtained the Master of Medicine (MMed) in Family Medicine in 2016. During his time in the polyclinic, Dr Quah was exposed to the management of conditions across all age groups. He also had the privilege of honing his skills in managing musculoskeletal problems in the orthopaedic second tier clinic, and also managing patients with cognitive impairment in the Memory Clinic.

Apart from the daily management of acute and chronic medical conditions, he was involved in the patient safety collaborative, being an advocate for patient safety in the polyclinic. He was the deputy lead of the respiratory workgroup in Singhealth Polyclinics, overseeing policies related to respiratory diseases like asthma and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). He was also the clinic lead for staff vaccination in Tampines Polyclinic.

He chose to continue his career in family medicine in the private sector, by setting up Crossroads Family Clinic in 2019. Through Crossroads, he wants to deliver good quality primary care to the community, spending quality time with each patient, understanding and treating the patient as a whole.

Dr Quah’s clinical interests are varied and wide-ranging. Through his time in the polyclinics, Dr Quah developed a strong interest in preventive care and chronic care. He has a keen interest in helping patients achieve good control of their chronic diseases like diabetes mellitus, hypertension, dyslipidemia, gout and asthma. He also has an interest in managing thyroid conditions and osteoporosis. He is adept at managing musculoskeletal conditions. In particular, he has experience with giving intra-articular steroid injections for shoulder pain, knee pain, wrist pain and trigger finger. He obtained the Graduate Diploma in Family Practice Dermatology in 2021. He is an accredited LPA (Lasting Power of Attorney) certificate issuer.
